Compact Nano Reactor For Clear Mini Aquariums.
AquaFX Nano Media Reactor Instruction & Setup Manual
Congratulations on choosing the AquaFX Nano Media Reactor! This compact system packs high-efficiency chemical filtration into a space-conscious profile designed to share the exact 10" x 2" physical dimensions of a standard AquaFX Inline DI Filter.
Step 1: Verify All Components
Before beginning installation, unbox your unit and ensure all components are accounted for:
(1) AquaFX Nano Media Reactor Body (Compact 10" x 2" Inline Shell)
(1) Precision 3/8" Quick-Connect Ball Valve (For accurate flow control)
(2) Heavy-Duty Mounting Brackets (For stand or cabinet walls)
(2) 3/8" Tubing Clips (To keep plumbing secure and organized)
(1) 2 Feet of Premium 3/8" Flexible Tubing
Step 2: Prepare and Load Your Media
The reactor is engineered to process up to 1/2 cup of Granular Ferric Oxide (GFO) or 1 cup of Activated Carbon.
Disconnect the top push-fitting cap from the main shell body.
Ensure the bottom internal containment sponge is sitting perfectly flat against the grid base to prevent media from back-washing into your lines.
Pour in your chosen filtration media (e.g., AquaFX ROX 0.8 Carbon or High-Capacity Phos-Blaster GFO).
Place the top internal containment sponge over your loaded media to ensure no loose grains escape into the aquarium.
Firmly press the top quick-connect cap back into the shell until it clicks tightly.
Step 3: Mount the Reactor
Mount your reactor near your sump or tank background using the included hardware.
Locate a solid vertical or horizontal surface inside your cabinet or behind your tank.
Align the 2 Heavy-Duty Mounting Brackets and screw them firmly into place.
Press the 10" x 2" reactor shell directly into the brackets until it securely snaps in.
Step 4: Plumb the Quick-Connect Water Lines
The leak-proof quick-connect ports make plumbing effortless. Simply press the raw tubing directly into the collet until it bottoms out to create a watertight seal.
Cut Your Tubing: Cut your 2 feet of 3/8" tubing into three functional pieces based on your setup layout.
Plumb the Input Line: Connect your small submersible feed pump (sold separately) to one side of the 3/8" tubing line. Push the opposite end directly into the input side of the Precision Ball Valve.
Plumb to the Reactor: Connect a short piece of tubing from the output side of the ball valve straight into the input fitting on your Nano Reactor Body.
Plumb the Return Line: Push the final piece of tubing into the exit fitting of your reactor shell and let it drain cleanly back into your aquarium or sump.
Use the 2 Tubing Clips to lock down any loose lines and prevent kinking.
Step 5: Initial Start-Up and Operation
Turn the blue handle on your Precision Ball Valve to the fully closed position.
Plug in and turn on your feed pump.
Slowly twist the ball valve open to allow water to fill the chamber gradually.
Pro-Tip: Divert the initial few cups of return water directly into a bucket. This rinses away any fine, loose media dust until the effluent runs completely clean.
Once clear, place the return tube into your filtration chamber and set the ball valve to your desired flow rate (a gentle simmer for GFO; a higher, uniform flow for carbon).
