Booster Pumps & TDS Meters
Accessories can be added to your RO/DI system to boost the performance and efficiency. The biggest boost in performance and efficiency you can add is a booster pump. Residential RO and RO/DI systems operates best at 80PSI. This is the water pressure that will give you the most-efficient product water output with the least amount of waste water. A booster pump increases your water pressure so you can operate your RO/DI system at its most efficient setting. If your water pressure is below 80PSI, we consider the addition of a booster pump as a must.
Another very beneficial accessory is a TDS Meter or TDS Monitor. As providing the cleanest water possible for your aquarium is the ultimate goal, it is extremely helpful to be able to monitor the TDS reading (total dissolved solids). Monitoring the product water TDS regularly also allows you to know precisely when the DI filters/resin needs to be replaced. Checking the product water output from the RO Membrane also allows you to determine when the performance of the RO membrane has dropped an needs to be replaced.
Almost all of our systems include pressure gauges. As sufficient water pressure is require for an RO and RO/DI system to operate properly, it is very helpful to know the water pressure and to know when the water pressure changes. Sediments, detritus, silt and other particulates will clog the sediment over time and cause the water pressure to drop. When the water pressure drops by 5PSI, it is time to change out your sediment filter to maintain proper performance.
